00-00243 - Overview

The Quantumdata 780E is equipped with multiple interface types including HDMI, DisplayPort and HDBaseT interfaces. Each digital interface is supported by both an output port and an input port to allow testing of digital video sources, displays, audio devices and distribution devices. Testing hybrid converter devices supporting HDMI, DisplayPort and HDBaseT distribution networks is a key application of the 780E as well.

HDMI Tx and Rx ports. The 780E can emulate an HDMI source or an HDMI sink operating up to pixel rates of 600 MHz. This supports testing of 4K ultra high definition sources and sinks operating at 50/60Hz using HDMI 2.0 RGB and 4:4:4 pixel encoding. The HDMI interfaces also support HDCP authentication testing with both HDCP 1.4 and 2.2 versions.

HDBaseT Tx and Rx ports. The 780E can emulate an HDBaseT source or sink operating up to pixel rates of 300 MHz. This supports testing of 4K ultra high definition sources and sinks operating at 50/60Hz using HDMI 2.0 4:2:0 pixel encoding. The HDBaseT interfaces or invaluable for testing A/V distribution gear with HDBaseT and HDMI interfaces.

DisplayPort Tx and Rx ports. The 780E can emulate a DisplayPort source or display operating link rates of 1.62 Gb/s, 2.7 Gb/s and 5.4 Gb/s on 1, 2 or 4 lanes. The DisplayPort interfaces or invaluable for testing A/V distribution gear with HDBaseT and HDMI interfaces. The DisplayPort interfaces also support HDCP authentication testing with both HDCP 1.3 and 2.2 versions.

You can use the 780E as a pattern generator for calibrating your high definition TVs. The 780Es are equipped with a variety of standard patterns and formats including deep color and HDMI 3D formats.

Because the 780E instrument has both digital video output and input ports, you can test your digital video cables and distribution networks with splitters, extenders and switches even when already installed on site using the Frame Compare feature.

The 780E can also be optioned with the Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) utility for monitoring the auxiliary channels of HDMI, HDBaseT or DisplayPort. For HDMI or HDBaseT, you can monitor the DDC (HDCP and EDID) transactions and hot plug events. You can monitor the HDMI/HDBaseT DDC either while emulating an HDMI or HDBaseT source and/or sink or passively monitoring the HDMI DDC hot plug events and CEC messages between an HDMI source and sink. The ACA option also enables you to monitor the DisplayPort Aux Channel, including EDID, HDCP exchanges and the link training transactions. You can monitor the DisplayPort Aux Channel either while emulating a DisplayPort source or display or you can monitoring passively between a DisplayPort source and display.

The 780E's portability makes it ideal for your bench and for use in the field. A color touch display makes the 780E easy and convenient to use and when testing a source device you can view the incoming video image and metadata on the built-in LCD.
