The ES-455U from ESE is a Video Character Inserter unit which receives an external source of SMPTE/EBU timecode. 8 digits of Time data (Hours, Minutes, Seconds and Frames) and 8 User Bit digits are superimposed onto a video signal looped-thru the unit. On-screen menus allow adjustment of the display Size, Position and Mask Mode (black background on/off and transparent or solid display). The display mode may be changed to display the Time and User bits either Side-by-Side or Stacked, or to display Time or User Bits only. The brightness of the Characters and Background may be individually set via front-panel controls. The display may be turned on/off via a front-panel control. An optional RS-232 interface & Windows Control Panel software may be ordered, which allow remote control of the display modes. The unit will read bi-directionally from 1/30 to 30x play speed (dependent upon the audio/timecode performance of the video player).

D: Remote Control: This option consists of a connector wired to switches on a control plate via a six-foot cable. Extra cable available.
DC: DC Operation: Requires the unit to be powered from a DC source exclusively, typically +12 to +35 VDC.
J: 220 VAC/50 Hz Operation: The unit is configured to operate from 220 VAC line voltage. 117 VAC 50/60 Hz is standard.
L2: Two Additional Video Input/Output Sets: Available on most Video Inserters.
L4: Four Additional Video Input/Output Sets: Available on most Video Inserters.
R: Remote Input: Rear-mounted connector for Remote Control.
SV: The BNC video connectors are replaced with S-VHS connectors.
UL: "UL" Approved Power Supply: The unit is supplied with a UL/CSA approved wall mount power supply.
