Hall Research's Model UH2D-3S is a member of the Mini-CAT video extension and distribution product line. The UH2D-3S is used to extend HDMI or DVI video up to 170 ft @ 1080i/720p or 130 ft @ 1080p resolution on 2 Cat6 cables to 3 remote receivers (Model UH2D-R). The unit provides one local HDMI output and 3 sets of RJ45 pairs for connection to the remote receivers. Cables that are of lower quality and construction will reduce the maximum distance.
The UH-2D-3S is compatible with HDMITM versions 1.2a, 1.3 and 1.4 in terms of 3D, deep- color, and 4K video support. The remote receiver (UH-2D-R) includes state of the art automatic equalization to compensate for signal losses in the cables and produces a crisp image as clear as the original. This allows daisy-chaining (to achieve further extension), and produces a crisp image as clear as the original.
The unit is housed in a compact sturdy metal enclosure that is 1RU high. Two can be mounted side-by-side using Hall Research Model RMS-1U-1A rack shelf (UH-2D-3S has threaded holes on the bottom for this purpose), or a single unit can be mounted using the Model RMK-05 Rack Mount Kit.
EDID Management
The UH2D-3S uses and intelligent method to report the EDID to the source. Understanding how this done can help certain installations where the 4 outputs may be connected to different LCD's.
Since the unit supports HDMI with HDCP, priority is given to the outputs connected to HDTV rather than DVI LCD's. Though the unit can split a DVI source for 4 DVI LCD displays (with DVI to HDMI cables or adapters), it is not recommended to connect the input in that situation to an HDMI source such as a Blu-ray player, since the DVI LCD's will not support the video anyhow as most DVI LCD's are 4x3 format, do not support HDCP, and cannot handle embedded HDMI audio.
Note: Front and back of Sender is pictured. Receiver is sold separately.
