Single Sequenced 15 AMP Power Distribution Module with Remote Control Capability
The Juice Goose CQ-1 is a great in-wall extension of the CQ product series. It functions just like the other CQ models with plug-and-play simplicity. It fits in a three gang box. The fifteen amp duplex turns on with a single sequence event. A utility box is supplied with the unit. But, any standard three gang enclosure is sufficient. Like other CQ models the CQ1 has a sequence signal line Input and Output port to allow it to be daisy chained with any number of other CQ devices.
Application and Advantage
The CQ 1 provides economical and practical power control for a single duplex AC receptacle. Now,there's no need for expensive motorized breakers or visible power control boxes that mount on the outside of the wall. The CQ 1 can be installed in a wall or ceiling to bring the convenience of autonomous power sequencing to non rack mounted installations. This power module works well with remote mounted powered speakers, video monitors, lights or any other load totaling fifteen amps or less that can be turned on and off as part of a larger power management system. Because the Qiwi fits in a two gang wall space, it also fits in floor boxes or wall enclosures behind digital signage or video monitors.The increased popularity of powered speakers has created a need for distributed power control. Qiwi fills that need with an aesthetic and economical option for new or retrofit installation. The metal face plates are available in black, white and ivory.
The CQ 1 consists of a front plate, duplex receptacle (NEMA 5-15R) and power control circuitry all installed in a metal enclosure which fits in a standard two gang spacing. A third gang space is required for power line connection. For installation convenience, the CQ 1 ships with a plastic, three gang wall enclosure. Any standard sized, approved three gang enclosure can be substituted as needed.
After main AC power is attached to the CQ 1, use the eight wire RJ-45 style CQ signal cables connected to the Input and Output connectors on the CQ 1 enclosure to link the CQ 1 to any number or configuration of other CQ Series products. Then fasten the assembly into the three gang wall box. That's it!
Floor Box Installation
With a standard two-gang design, the CQ 1 fits in a floor box with a minimum eight inch depth. So, the plug-and-play CQ 1 can provide a link between any equipment powered from the floor box and the rest of an audio system sequenced with the Juice Goose CQ Series modules.
Please Note: Interconnecting CQ Series devices requires eight wire, RJ-45 cable. While this is the same component used to assemble CAT5 and CAT6 cables, orientation of the connectors on the CQ Series cable is slightly different than for the CAT data networking cable. Therefore, standard CAT5 or CAT6 cables will not work with CQ Series devices.
Please read before connecting any RJ45 cables!
A special crimping procedure is required for connecting RJ45 cables between devices. After crimping a RJ45 connector on one end of the eight wire cable, attach a connector on the other end "upside down" from the first so that when the connectors are placed side by side the wire orientation will appear opposite of each other (i.e 12345678 - 87654321) See illustration above. Check the cable with a continuity tester prior to installation. There is no known distance limit for the connection of CQ units by means of this cable system. The CQ signal is not sensitive to voltage changes or frequency interference.
The Qiwi fits in a standard two gang wall enclosure. It ships with a three gang front plate and wall box. The third enclosure space is required for AC wire termination. RJ 45 cable terminations are with standard male connectors which mate with receptacles on the Qiwi circuit board.
